CPD – Storytelling Under Your Wing

From Mythstories

Years 1 – 6: Fun With Words: learn ways to help pupils deconstruct a story.  Acquire techniques to allow pupils to ‘exercise their creative muscle’, encouraging them to think for themselves. Improve listening and comprehension skills, build mastery of spoken language and help to close the ‘word gap’. Tap into children’s interests and gather ideas for researching stories.  With traditional story summaries to take away.

Years 5-6: Performance Storytelling:  This course covers techniques to improve pupils’ performance and presentation skills; helping pupils to feel comfortable communicating with an audience and gain the skills needed to be an effective presenter.  Explore ways to capture and maintain the interest of the audience, experiment with body language, gesture, energy and pace and play creative games which develop confident use of grammar.  With story summaries to take away.

Both courses are delivered by Dawn Powell, a performance storyteller, primary teacher and former assessor for the Artsmark Award. For more details on these and other courses and booking information for school or individual places go to:-
