From University Centre Telford

…in the various industries there. The University of Wolverhampton promotes Linguistics related degrees which look at the structure of language, and of regional dialects of the UK. These two goals, oral history and linguistic documentation, can be seen as different, yet this talk will discuss the kinds of data both projects collect, and the ways in which linguists and oral historians can work together to collect rich accounts of both lives and the speech of a local area, planning collection ethically, digitising recordings and ultimately making them available again to the community that gave them and to the wider research world.

The public lecture is delivered by Dr Esther Asprey, Senior Lecturer in English Language and Linguistics from University of Wolverhampton.
